This mango ice cream is so simple to make. You can make it without an ice cream maker, all you need is a freezer and a food processor. Mango and banana are sliced into bite size pieces, frozen and processed with a bit of milk to make this delicious and simple mango ice cream recipe. If you’d like to make the recipe dairy free, coconut milk would be a great substitute for the cow’s milk. Speaking of cows milk…
We recently went with some friends and their kids to our local dairy farm for a tour to learn about cows, how they milk them and follow it up with some ice cream made on the farm. The farmer was explaining how they milk the cows and showed the kids the machine they use for milking. He had just a few simple questions for the kids to answer.
Where does milk come from? Cows! Everyone knows that! Where does chocolate milk come from? Brown cows. What about strawberry milk? Pink cows, of course. What a smart group of kiddos :) Anybody know where mango ice cream comes from?
What is your favorite ice cream flavor?
Ingredients
- 1 banana
- 1 mango
- a few tablespoons of milk
Instructions
- Cut banana and mango into bite sized pieces and lay out on a tray to freeze.

Oh YUM! What a terrific idea. I keep frozen fruit in the freezer all the time for slushies…will definitely have to try this soon.
Sounds like a plan to me. It’s nice to add a bit of extra nutrition to a dessert by using fruit.
brilliance Katie. We don’t have an ice cream maker and regular ice cream would be dangerous in our house. This is the perfect solution to both of those problems and cases of mangoes are on sale right now. Yeah!
Ice cream makers are rather dangerous, aren’t they? I have to set limits for myself and just stick to them. But I do love a good treat :)
Last week I froze some ripe mango slices and some ripe bananas slices. Wasn’t sure what I would use them for. Here’s my recipe. I’m pinning this one
This was awesome! I tried it over the weekend and OMG, I think I’m in love :) It was so good that I just blogged about it yesterday (with attribution to you of course!). Thanks for this awesome tip!
Great! So glad you enjoyed it, Sarah. Going to check out your post!
